The Zero to Six Library

In Uncategorized on December 18, 2011 at 1:42 pm

Are you looking to start building that early childhood library in Arabic for your children or students? We’ve put together a list of 24 wonderfully illustrated books written in Arabic to get you started. This is by far not a comprehensive list of what’s available, but just the tip of the children’s literature iceberg. The books on the list were selected from a pool of titles that have come highly recommended, been tried and tested, and/or won awards and honourable mentions₁. A suggested age is also provided, however it is very important to remember that this is only a suggestion. As a parent or educator, it remains up to you to decide what title is appropriate for what age, and this of course depends greatly on your child’s abilities and preferences. A book labelled appropriate for a four year old may very well be enjoyed by a six year old beginning to read alone. A book recommended for a five year old may be enjoyed by a three year old if the story is funny, repetitive or rhythmic. The final call in selecting age appropriate books remains yours and your child’s.

A PDF list of books is available for download HERE, with the names of the books not only transcribed into English, but also translated. We hope this gives you several options for keyword searches should you choose to look for the books online. Many of the titles are available at Amazon, Syraj and Araboh.
